Traditional Ashtanga Yoga in the centre of Birmingham
Suzanne started practising yoga in 1999 and Ashtanga Yoga in 2007. She took her first teacher training course in 2008 with Brian Cooper, author of Yoga: The Art of Adjusting, and began teaching yoga in 2009.
To deepen her yoga practice, Suzanne made her first trip to Mysore, India in 2009 to study at the Sri K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute. She has made a total of nine long trips to Mysore to practise with her teacher R Sharath Jois, grandson of Sri K Pattabhi Jois and the current Ashtanga Yoga lineage holder, and has spent almost three years in total studying with him.
She received the authorisation to teach from Sharath-ji on her third trip to Mysore in 2011 and is currently authorised to teach both the Primary and Intermediate Series of Ashtanga Yoga.
Suzanne attended Sharath-ji's Special Teachers Course in 2016 in which Sharath-ji gave in-depth instruction over two months about the practice and teaching of Ashtanga Yoga. She also began her practice of the Ashtanga Yoga pranayama sequence with him during that period.
Suzanne continues to return to Mysore to study and is currently learning the Advanced Series from Sharath-ji.
Suzanne has a first class BA(Hons) degree in Management Studies with French from the University of Nottingham, a Master's degree in Gender from the London School of Economics and is a qualified solicitor, practising family law in the centre of Birmingham.
